Today the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a proposed rule to clarify the definition of the "waters of the United States" under the Clean Water Act. The Ä¢¹½Av issued the following statement:
"What's at stake here is the future of wetlands conservation in this country," said Ä¢¹½Av Vice President for Government Relations Mike Daulton. "We think it's important that the EPA write a rule that will clearly define its ability to protect our waters -- and all the birds and other wildlife that depend on them -- while also protecting productive economic and agricultural activity. We think that's possible to do, and we look forward to working with the EPA through the rest of the process."
The Ä¢¹½Av protects birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow, throughout the Americas using science, advocacy, education and on-the-ground conservation. Ä¢¹½Av’s state programs, nature centers, chapters and partners have an unparalleled wingspan that reaches millions of people each year to inform, inspire and unite diverse communities in conservation action. Since 1905, Ä¢¹½Av’s vision has been a world in which people and wildlife thrive. Ä¢¹½Av is a nonprofit conservation organization. Learn more at www.audubon.org and @audubonsociety.
